seminar series (bisp 170)

A Seminar Course Made By Students, For Students

The Seminar Planning Committee (SPC) is a yearly program that consists of a small group of BioScholars members. These students are able to work directly with a professor to create a curriculum, communicate with other faculty, and produce a seminar for their fellow students to enjoy.

What do we do?

The SPC works with the BioScholars’ faculty advisor to choose a theme, subtopics, and speakers for this course.

Who can take this class?

Anyone with upper-division standing can take this class.

Does this class count for anything?

Yes. This course can count for 2 units, or half of one’s Biology elective requirement. Since the course's topic and curriculum changes every year, it can be taken more than once to satisfy the requirement. People can either take the class for a grade or have it count as a BioScholars’ academic event credit. However, you cannot do both.

topics

  • Spring 2019: Nutrition and Disease

  • Spring 2018: Drugs and Addiction
